How it all started

A little background from our Founder

My entrepreneurial journey began with a personal struggle - a quest to find personal care products and supplements that truly worked for me. Like so many, I was searching for solutions to address issues like dry skin and ageing wrinkles, sleeping better at night. However, each product I tried led to the same disappointing outcome. Whether it was an expensive brand, a well-reviewed product on Amazon, or a TikTok recommendation from my son, the results were consistently underwhelming. 

 

What stood out most was how individual each of our needs are, even within the same family. After each failed experiment, I found myself left with unused bottles and products filling my shelf in my bathroom, representing wasted money and effort. Over time, I realised I had spent over hundreds on products that not only failed me but also contributed to unnecessary waste - piling up plastic bottles and packaging in what I came to call my personal “graveyard of trial and error.”

 

The struggle didn’t stop there. After contracting Covid-19 multiple times, I found that my sense of taste and smell had permanently changed. Toothpaste, a product I had never given much thought to before, suddenly became a challenge. The strong taste of mint, present in nearly every option on the market, was unbearable, it literally made me want to vomit. My search for alternatives led to dead ends, eventually choosing a baby toothpaste from Switzerland that seemed safe and I started to realise just how little the market catered to people with changing or atypical needs. And throughout this journey thus far, i was starting to become more inquisitive, reading up on ingredients, in products and really starting to become shocked from what i was learning. And then using popular tools on the market, investigating products and ingredients, alot of the ones i looked at, barcodes didnt work in terms of scanning, ingredients were often lengthy and complicated and had severe consequences potentially. I wanted to learn more.

For me, the turning point came when I reflected on my own experiences - my background has been in big data and related technologies for many years and the initial analysis and correlations i was seeing pointed to many obvious outcomes - many months of frustration, wasted money, and the environmental cost of discarded products. I realised that these weren’t isolated issues but part of a larger problem in the way industry products are developed, marketed, and delivered. It was then that I decided to stop searching for generic solutions and build a platform to help facilitate personalised, individually unique products and ingredients, educating users, providing visual insights in a simple way connecting consumers to the companies.

 

That moment of clarity became the seed for Enbodie. I saw an opportunity to harness technology to offer inclusive, personalised solutions for health, wellness, and beauty. Enbodie was born not only to solve my challenges but to address a universal need: to create products and insights that truly honour individuality, adapt to changing needs, and prioritise sustainability.

Around the same time, I began experiencing unexpected changes to my scalp. It became persistently dry and itchy, an issue I had never dealt with before, it was dandruff - it was something else. I embarked on yet another cycle of trial and error, trying shampoos, conditioners, and even biome-calming serums. Each new product came with the hope of relief, but nothing seemed to work consistently. These struggles added to my growing frustration and deepened my awareness of just how poorly the health, wellness and beauty industries catered to real, evolving needs & individual unique problems.

 

Conversations with friends, colleagues, and my children revealed that I wasn’t alone in these experiences. Many people shared stories of battling with products that didn’t suit them, outcomes that were unpleasant, wasting money, and feeling let down by the promises of well-known brands. The common thread was clear: the industry was failing to provide solutions that were personalised, effective, and inclusive.
